Abstract

Atrioventricular septal defects (AVSD) are a rare congenital heart pathology characterized by different structural abnormalities of the atrioventricular valves, interatrial and interventricular septa. We present a clinical case of a 48-year-old woman with intermediate type AVSD (the rarest type), diagnosed decades after two normal childbirths and a long asymptomatic period.
